MAKE THE NEXT HOLIDAY EASIER

Put the dates in your calendar.

Choose the year you need: 11 federal observances in 2026, or 12 in 2027 including the December 31 observance of New Year’s Day 2028.

One-time import; no automatic updates or reminders. Your calendar app’s own notification settings may apply. Service schedules can differ.

How to import into Apple, Google or Outlook

Download one file, then import it into a dedicated holiday calendar to keep the dates easy to manage. Importing overlapping files can create duplicate events.

Why “observed” needs a second look

For most Monday–Friday federal employees, a Saturday holiday is observed on Friday and a Sunday holiday on Monday. This is an employee holiday rule; it is not a rule for every store, carrier or bank.

Federal Reserve Banks stay open on the Friday before a Saturday holiday. NYSE follows its own exchange calendar, and USPS follows its postal operating calendar. Use the date checker for the service-specific answer.

A FEW USEFUL DETAILS

Before you go.

How many federal holidays are in 2026?

OPM lists 11 named federal holidays for 2026. Observed dates can differ from actual dates for employees on a Monday–Friday schedule. A next-year holiday can also be observed in the preceding December.

Does this calendar establish bank and postal hours?

No. Federal Reserve Banks use a different Saturday observance rule, and postal operations need their own calendar. Schools, stores and local offices publish their own schedules.
